Our Team

Jared Miller, Owner
Jared moved to Vermont in 2001 after attending the University of Hartford in Connecticut. He worked various jobs in the trades before taking a position as a carpentry foreman in Stowe, Vermont. He formed Yellow Dog Contracting in 2007. Although Jared was at first a lone wolf, Yellow Dog Contracting's pack has grown to include three full-time employees and over a dozen skilled subcontractors. In his free time, Jared enjoys all things outdoors. An avid backcountry skier, mountain biker, hiker, and kayaker, Jared is most likely found in the mountains or on the lake. Jared also loves playing and seeing live music. His passion for sports and music have helped drive his other passion: traveling. Jared and his wife, Sarah, reside in Winooski, Vermont with their two dogs, Caboose and Patsy, and their rabbit, Lucky.

Martin Bushey, Foreman & Master Carpenter
Martin is a ninth generation Vermont native. He got into the trades formally in 1998 after attending the Gailer School in Middlebury. After becoming a journeyman ironworker, he worked various trades including many years of custom and high-end commercial tile in a family business, along the way earning a Bachelor of Science from University of Vermont. After working independently Martin was hired on to Yellow Dog Contracting as lead carpenter in April of 2018. When not working Martin can be found (or not) in the woods, fields, and streams around Vermont, hunting, fishing, hiking, and generally enjoying the outdoors. Both an avid reader and traveler, Martin almost always has a book to hand, but during his time off, his location is anyone’s guess. Martin lives in Addison County with his wife, son, and cat, Moose.

Integrity, quality, and craftsmanship is our mission at Yellow Dog Contracting.

We are always accessible. Clients work directly with our president, Jared Miller, to help their ideas become a reality. With over twenty years of experience in the construction fields, Jared brings an eye for detail and ability to manage each project we undertake. Home improvement can be a daunting task, and it is often overwhelming to find the different contractors necessary, secure permits, and manage your own remodeling project. We feel it is paramount to offer a one stop service for all your home improvement needs.

We take the guess work out of project planning. Our detailed estimates outline every aspect of your project from demo to finish and can be itemized by room, by project, or by cost. We provide realistic timelines and are always willing to adjust on the fly to accommodate our clients' schedules and requests. In addition to working with vendors, designers, and architects, we rely on our established relationships with proven, vetted sub-contractors to bring clients a quality product we can stand behind.

We believe in transparency. From our estimate process, to the permit stage, to onsite construction, we are happy to answer any questions our clients may have. As a client you are entrusting us with your biggest investment, and this is a responsibility we take seriously. We believe in keeping our clients educated and informed.

We are committed to 100% customer satisfaction.
At the completion of your project we want you to feel comfortable recommending Yellow Dog Contracting to friends, family, and co-workers. We realize the importance of word of mouth referrals, and will not be satisfied until you are. Our walk through inspections guarantee the final product is to code, specifications, and a product we can stand behind.
